The Environmental Justice and Community Development Project periodically works on campaigns apart from solid waste, energy and brownfields. Beyond NYLPI's work opposing the unfair siting of polluting infrastructure like waste transfer stations and power plants, promoting community-based planning and brownfields reclamation, other community-driven environmental justice issues are brought to NYLPI requiring our technical assistance. These other projects either stem from our work in our main program areas, or arise from repeated requests from one or more of our community partners as a growing concern requiring technical assistance. Special Projects are seen as temporary or discrete projects.
