Pro Bono

The Pro Bono Clearinghouse screens and refers requests for free legal assistance for organizations to over 80 member law firms and corporate legal departments. Last year alone, NYLPI placed over 200 pro bono matters with volunteer lawyers, who use their expertise to improve the quality of life for underrepresented New Yorkers. A list of recent cases is available in our newsletter Pro Bono Matters.

Legal projects referred through the Pro Bono Clearinghouse assist organizations, strengthen communities, and attack systemic problems for low-income New Yorkers. The skills and resources of our volunteer attorneys and member firms allow us to supply a wide range of legal services. The variety of requests provides the lawyers who volunteer through us many avenues for pro bono work. Assistance is provided to organizations in three areas:

Put your skills and experience to work by serving on a nonprofit board through our partnership with boardnetUSA.
